About Carol:  A passion to create! Carol owns 'Art From the Heart Studio', relocated to the Bruce Peninsula in the spring of 2017. Stop by her studio to see more of Carol's work.  She is a member of the Bruce Peninsula Society of Artisits and you can find her work displayed during events such as the Studio Tour in August. She is a guest artist this upcoming summer at the Ferndale Co-op Art gallery.  She also hosts a yearly art fundraiser in support of Canadian Mental Health, helping to raise funds and awareness.

We are lucky enough to have the special talents of Laura Banks again in the afternoon with a different approach to acrylics. Laura will teach you how to paint your choice of a howling wolf, deer or bear silhouette at sunset on a cedar shingle. Your artwork will then be sealed and ready to hang in your special place, even outside!

Using acrylics, watercolour and oils, Laura Banks from Ghost Lake Studio likes to paint wildlife, still life and some landscapes. She usually adds a bird or two, and sometimes a mouse!! Laura finds it interesting to see how her paintings have changed over the years but the best part is that even after retirement, she still loves to paint. When she sees something outside, the first thing that enters her mind is that she would love to paint it! Share in Laura's passion for painting in this three hour beginner painting workshop where Laura will share with you a plethora of painting techniques and tips. A whimsical cardinal will be your inspiration for this acrylic on canvas workshop.

This beginner workshop will introduce you to air dry clay. Kelly will show you how to sculpt and shape boho inspired feathers, then paint with your favourite design and colours. Although on trend, this is a super relaxing and stress-free way to get your craft on. Make as many as you like to use as decoration, hang them on branches, as gift tags or whatever you can imagine. Another great Mother's Day activity or gift idea!

DESCRIPTION: This workshop will teach you how to nurture monarch butterfly populations by growing your own easy to maintain monarch waystation. You'll learn about the lifecycle, biology, issues and threats to the monarch population.  How to choose plants appropriate to your area, what it means to bring native versus non-native plants into your habitat and of course, how to create monarch friendly habitat from the ground up. Following a slide show, free seeds will be distributed to get you started on your own waystation!

BIO: Audrey leads workshops about the monarch butterfly and habitat development throughout Canada and the USA. She taught with the Bluewater District School Board for 25 years and now embraces the opportunity to travel, hike, ski, bike, canoe and explore this wonderful world.

DESCRIPTION: In this fun-filled 3-hour interactive workshop, the beginner learns the process of applying Paverpol, a water based textile hardener, to fabric to create rock-hard form. With step-by-step guidance and examples to follow, using bronze or gray Paverpol, a glass bottle, cotton fabric, styrofoam and wire, you will assemble an exciting piece of art that is unique to you! Your sculpture of approximately 2 feet is weather resistant. You have the option to bedazzle... try highlighting your art with acrylic metallic paint.  Imagine your creative piece adorning your porch or patio this summer!

You will be supplied with all the materials needed for the day.

BIO: A word from Tamara...Using artistic enthusiasm, I foster my inspiration for art through creative mediums. With a past in pottery, I find three dimensional form my niche. In 2016 I was introduced to the Paverpol medium and in 2017 was certified as a Paverpol teacher.

At my home studio in Stokes Bay, individual and small group Paverpol classes are available and are designed to bring out the artistic talent of the participant. All of us have creativity within, it is as easy as giving ourselves the freedom to play!

DESCRIPTION: The best camera is the one thats with you.  In Willys case an iphone, but most of the course applies to any smartphone. In phone cameras are much more powerful than most people realize. We will explore the cameras various functions, attachments to expand your horizons and how to process the photos and look at ways to preserve your images and do a photo walk if time and weather permits.

BIO: Willys family settled in the Balaclava area of Grey County in the 1840s, where a creek still bears the family name. For the last 36 years as a full time photo journalist, he has recorded the people, places and events while exploring the nooks and crannies of Grey Bruce by foot, car, canoe, airplane, helicopter, skis and bicycle.
