HIKING:

btc diamond_logo_50 pixThe Bruce Trail is a world famous foot path that extends over 800 km from Niagara to Tobermory. On the Bruce Peninsula this trail offers spectacular views as you hike above Georgian Bay along the edge of the Niagara Escarpment. Visit the Peninsula Bruce Trail Club website for more information about our local club and organized hikes. At Summer House Park we offer weekly free guided hikes for our guests. Ask us about 'Day Hike Guides' you can find in our gift shop.

 

BRUCE PENINSULA NATIONAL PARK:

parks canada beaverThe Bruce Peninsula National Park is a short drive from Summer House Park. The beautiful Grotto near Cyprus Lake is a must-see as well as a walk through the Parks Canada Vistor's Centre in Tobermory and a climb up the observation tower.  Day passes are available for you to explore a number of excellent hiking trails or join in one of several educational presentations and interpretive hikes.

OUTDOOR FESTIVALS & EVENTS:

Don't miss the opportunity to join in one of the following excellent events on the Bruce.

1. Spring Birding at Summer House Park. Join the warblers and other birds as they migrate north. This is an excellent opportunity to learn your birds by sight and sound!

2. Bruce Peninsula Orchid Festival- The Bruce Peninsula has 44 orchid species, several ferns and other unique flora such as the Dwarf Lake Iris and endangered Lakeside Daisy. Join this festival and join in the exploration of our amazing local plant life. Festival is held every spring, the first weekend in June.

3. Peninsula Bruce Trail Club's Outdoor Festival- Each fall the local Bruce Trail club and Parks Canada host a fun-filled and educational weekend celebration with guided hikes and special guests.

4. Bruce Peninsula Multi-sport Race- Don't miss this year's first Multi-sport race on the Bruce. 100 km of pure Bruce Peninsula challenge!

5. Chi-Cheemaun Weekend: Don't miss this fun-filled weekend in Tobermory held each June- the best fireworks of the year and much, much more!
